The Emergency Aid Fund supports people and organisations that are threatened or attacked for racist, antisemitic, trans-hostile or other politically motivated reasons. People who have experienced violence because of their commitment to democracy and human rights can also receive support.

Affected people can apply for up to €1,000 to cover costs for lawyers, therapy, selfe-defense courses or the repair of items.

We stand by those affected with solidarity, partiality and support. We work independently of the classification by security authorities and the judicial system. It is not necessary for charges to have been filed beforehand.

Counselling can take place by telephone, digitally or in person. We speak German, English, French, Spanish and Turkish. Counselling in other languages may take place with language mediators. Reach out and make an appointment! Contact details at the bottom of the page.

Partiality, Solidarity, Support

Inhumane attitudes such as racism, antisemitism, trans-hostility and other devaluing ideologies are becoming increasingly accepted in our society and unfortunately often lead to violent attacks. Attacks against democratically committed people, functionaries, media professionals and politicians have also increased in recent years. We need to show solidarity with those who are the first to feel this in their everyday lives. Supporting those directly affected is a responsibility for society as a whole and an urgent necessity. In order to ensure that emergency aid can be provided on short notice, the identification of those affected must take place independently of the judgment of the security authorities and the judiciary. These often do not do justice to the needs of those affected. For us, solidarity with those affected is essential:

  • Partiality: We have trust in the perspectives of those affected, not in the classification by the police or judicial system. We take the needs, requests and perspectives of those affected seriously.
  • Solidarity: We see inhumane violence as a problem for society that we have to address together. Affected people may not be left to deal with this alone!
  • Support: We see ourselves as an addition to the support structures in Berlin. While specialised advice agencies offer direct psychological support, aid in legal questions and support with the police, authorities and doctors, we offer financial support. We work closely with advice agencies to provide this.
